When technology is all-seeing the act of resistance becomes writing. I feel the mental state of people around me both off-line and online deteriorate and my own well-being fall I am reminded the the clearest act of resistance one can do is problish their own writing in their own words. But where? The cleanest solution I’ve found is on your own website. All-and-all a website is not that expensive especially when you consider this versus publishing a book. The craziest thing about this website is I can publish whatever I want barring actually illegal content. I basically can say anything here is minimal censorship. For some reason people just forgot that personal websites are a thing with everyone being channelled into large content hosting websites. If I want to scream into I void I can. If I want to sing lyrical about poetry I can. Writing for yourself is a source of liberation. I don’t want to write about my life outside of the self-confessional I-novel style I write in sometimes. But the brilliant thing about that style of writing is what of those I’s am I talking about myself or about some nameless protagonist? I can even say swearwords here if I want. I’m not going to today, but I can. This faceless website can say anything that I don’t mind being attributed to me. I want to write more, but I am getting distracted by the music I’m listening to. 🎵 One should never forget that the biggest and most important act of resistance Winston Smith does in Nineteen Eighty-Four is write down the date and his thoughts. We should do that. Resistance is thinkable and it is not protesting in the street. It is pure ink on a page. Personal writing. Your writing doesn’t need to be AI assisted for someone else, it can only be for yourself and if other people read it, that is a bonus. You shouldn’t cheat on your writing assignments. Submitting something half-baked is better that someone else’s words because at least the half-baked confused and erroneous work is your work. Listen to your old playlist pre-2022 as that one is clean data before the corrupting influence of LLMs. I think those models are incredibly useful, but they also have made us very sick. There is a reason why the companies making those models have started focussing their attention to data pre-2022 because that is almost guaranteed clean human data. And humans are still collectively smarter, or at least were, since we are sick and need mentally healing. How much do I want to write today? Not too much more since I want to go about my day. I feel better for speaking up. We should speak up when we see something wrong.
